My style of art is described as modern abstracts and most of my work has been influenced by abstract expressionism, impressionism, and surrealism. The subject matters of my art vary from landscapes to imaginative geometrical and organic compositions, architecture to industrialization and technology.
I always had a keen interest in the ancient art and the mythology since my childhood. I was born and raised in Izmir (ancient name Smyrna). Now I live in Antalya. I have traveled around the coasts of the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea where many ancient civilizations rose and fell. I believe that these journeys have great effect consciously or unconsciously on my artworks. I read a lot in my spare time. My art is also influenced by the subjects and elements of science fiction, underground and dystopian literatures which are my favorites.
As a consequence of coming from the ceramics discipline, I use texture a lot in my paintings, trying to capture the feel or look of the ceramics surface. My paintings are usually layered with color and texture besides the abstracted shapes and landscapes. Especially on my landscapes, I work on a more expressive level; try to convey what I feel in my inner world. The process of painting is a kind of metaphysical journey for me.
